Connect Families

July 21, 2021 03:51 PM
We have code that can check to see how large is the connected network that a person is part of on the Family Tree. Most people who lived in Tacoma are connected into a network that includes more than 600 million people from all over the world. However, other people are part of much smaller networks. We have identified people on these smaller networks who lived in Tacoma. You can help by looking for records that might help us connect these people with additional family members so that we can connect this family with other families on the Family Tree. Census, marriage, and death records can be really useful. Public member trees on other genealogical websites can also be helpful. We have set up a google sheet that has a row for each of the unique smaller networks for families that lived in Tacoma.

The connections that we are creating on the Family Tree for people that lived in Tacoma will make it easier for you to see how you are related to your friends and family. You’ll need a free FamilySearch account to do this activity but your friend or neighbor won’t. Simply use the find a person feature on the FamilySearch mobile app and have them tell you a bit about one of their deceased ancestors. Once you find the profile for their ancestor you can click the “view my relationship” button to see how you are related. If you both have a FamilySearch account, you can use “relatives around me”.
